Gareth-Gaza-flotilla-wpByron Bay’s Gareth Smith (pictured) made a novel political point in his modified ocean kayak at Sunday’s Mullum to Bruns river paddle.

Gareth decided to take the opportunity to bring to the public eye a spectacle designed to enlighten the viewer as to the nature and extent of the illegal siege of Gaza by Israel’s government. Collective punishment of a civilian population by military force is illegal under international law.

The people of Gaza number more than 1.5 million persons in one of the most densely populated regions on earth. Israel denies freedom of movement to her people and restricts essential supplies such as power, clean water, medicines and building materials.

Gaza’s exports are severely limited and her citizens are virtually imprisoned by Israel’s unlawful siege.

The mainstream media refuses to publish factual information about the war crimes committed by the Israel government against the citizens of Gaza so it falls to activists to bring the truth into the public domain.
