Tyalgum Ball will be held on June 29, tickets at the door, start at 8pm, judging from 9pm, supper around 10pm, finished by midnight. An evening of dance for the whole family, with ballroom and social styles, floor prizes, and raffles on the night. All welcome, all ages, Pride of Erin dance for the title, only two left in the season.

The Tweed Ball tradition is going into its 42nd year in 2013. Tyalgum is one of the largest halls in the Tweed; it is famous for the Music Festival held in spring. Not only are the acoustics of a high quality, the floor allows for many dancers to fill the hall. If you have moved to the area and are looking for what the locals used to do around here over the decades, then come to a ball, and learn some of the easy dances, practice what you have learnt, or just have a night of dance and socialising. Supper of locally made desserts and sandwiches, with coffee or tea is provided with entry.

The local band Trilogy is playing the music.

It is expected that the winner of the title on the night will participate at the final ball on July 27, 2013, to be held at the Catholic Hall, Murwillumbah. Judging is based on the dance the Pride of Erin, and those on the dance floor.

Last year’s winners of Tyalgum Ball 2012 were;

Judges: Chris & Christine Dennis.

Tiny tot: Zoe Mumford

Tiny tot: Angus Pease (Reigning Tweed title holder)

Junior miss: Courtney Tartan

Miss: Hanna Johnstone

Matron: Janet Budd

Senior Beau: Jim O’Brien

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online.
