A birdwatcher fell almost six metres out of a large eucalypt tree at Ulmarra yesterday.
The man suffered suspected pelvic and internal injuries in the fall, which took place mid-afternoon.
He was treated by Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter paramedics and airlifted to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.
