Three young Queenslanders were arrested at Clunes on Monday (July 22) following a police pursuit from Brunswick Heads.
Police allege the three stole the Queensland-registered vehicle before crossing the border into NSW, where they were spotted driving erratically.
Tweed/Byron highway patrol officers identified the vehicle travelling south on the Pacific Hwy near the Brunswick Heads exit and initiated a pursuit.
As the vehicle approached the road works near the Byron Bay exit, police allege the driver forced others to collide with the wire safety guard in the middle of the road.
When the vehicle took the Bangalow turnoff, police abandoned the pursuit because of the heightened risk to other road users and pedestrians.
However, it was spotted travelling towards Clunes along Bangalow Road a short time later and was stopped without incident.
Three youths from Queensland were arrested.
The driver is to be charged with Skyes Law: police pursuit in possession of stolen motor vehicle.
