Thursdays self selected pairs was cancelled due to rain. The meat tray was won by Geoff McGrath.

Saturdays bowls was won by Judith Wright and Pat Anderson with runners-up Don Orth and Mark Barry.

President Gloria held her annual bowls day on Tuesday 9th July.  Those that attended had a great day. Many thanks to Gloria for all her hard work over the past three years. She is going out of office as President but will remain a very active member of our club.

Kingscliff Men

Club Championship News: The Semi-finals and Final of the Open Triples were played last weekend. In the Semi-finals Brian Turner, Trevor Hills, Michael Turner d Frank McNamara, Steve Jamieson, Russell McLeay 23 to 19 and Vic Lewis, Steve Quinn, Peter Murphy d Mick Mesic, Ray Phipps, Dale Roughley 24 – 15. The Final saw Brian, Trevor and Michael skip away to an early lead over Vic, Steve and Peter and from that point went on to score a 25 – 11 win. Congratulations to all finalists. In the B Grade Singles B Fitzgerald d H DeVries; D Roughley d J Julius; K Taylor d J Barnes; B Martin v K Dawson. The Semi-finals will be played on 20th July and will see Billy Fitzgerald v Kim Taylor and ‘Tango’ Martin v Dale Roughley; In the Novice Singles Semi Finals Ray Breen d Kevin Payne and Paul McGirr d Bernie Swift. Ray will now play Paul in the Final on Saturday 21st July.

*** Pennants News: The State Finals of the Pennants will be held from 2nd – 5th August. Our Division One bowlers will be heading off to Merimbula to contest their division. Meanwhile, Kingscliff will be hosting the Division 4 Finals. This will see teams coming from Cootamundra, Harboard, North Ryde, St John’s Park, Inverell, Scone, The Entrance and Bathurst. 

District News: In the Zone One Championships on 20th July Vic Lewis and Peter Murphy will play in the Seniors Pairs and on 21st July, Ken Banks, Greg Barrack and Ian Taylor will play in the Open Triples.

The round-robin singles competition winner was an undefeated John Harrison with Fred Newman runner-up. The doubles competition was won by Mark Smith & John Harrison 3-1 from Chris Strybos & Fred Newman. It was a raining night, so some of the tennis players came in for some friendly doubles play and they were all winners: Zac Filipic, Puni Peinezke, Adrian Filipic and Dave Parkinson.
