General manager of Lismore City Council (LCC), Gary Murphy, says the council is really pleased to be part of a pilot program to make local councils more small-business friendly.
The Small Business Friendly Councils initiative will be launched tonight at Sydney Olympic Park and Lismore is one of just four councils to be part of the pilot. The other three are Parramatta City Council, and Tenterfield and Boorowa shire councils.
The pilot will develop a Small Business Friendly Charter, outlining key principles for becoming small-business friendly. It will also assist councils to identify their strengths and weaknesses in becoming small-business friendly.
Mr Murphy said LCC was ‘committed to supporting small business in our area and are really pleased to be part of this forward-thinking initiative’.
NSW small business commissioner, Yasmin King, said ‘where councils are proactively supporting and engaging with small business, the local community and economy will be thriving, more vibrant and more resilient’.
