Editorial – #ChooseToChallenge the patriarchy

It is easy to think we have almost achieved equality for men and women in a country like Australia – just as long as you don’t think too hard about it.

The Lamplights and Buffalo Tales – two themes you would not generally see in the same place but this week they will all be combined to make for a night of music by Gold Coast band The Lamplights and former Australian Idol winner Wes Carr (Buffalo Tales).

The Lamplights are on tour with their friend and will be playing a short tour to
release their single You’ve Got A Friend, a song that celebrates what can happen when you are out with your friends, a song that is irresistible to get your groove on.

Lamplights in the limelightThe Lamplights have won a heap of awards for an independent band, Australian songwriting awards, Q Music awards and were finalists in the International Songwriting awards, sold more than 11,000 albums, and have won fans all across Australia.

Buffalo Tales’ Wes Carr, having won a well-known TV contest, has lived several musical lifetimes before reaching the age of 30, and has returned to his organic singer/songwriter roots.

Bangalow Bowlo, Doors 0pen 7.30pm.

Tickets $18 pre, $22 Door – Tickets on sale now from the venue.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
