The NSW government has officially ‘harmonised’ the term coal seam gas to ‘natural gas from coal seams’. Similarly, the aggressively pro-CSG federal industry minister Ian Macfarlane wants to ‘harmonise’ all state laws relating to CSG, no doubt with a view to ultimately having no effective laws or any regulation of the fracking industry.

Thus, in the spirit of harmonisation here are two suggestions for Macfarlane, for NSW ministers Hartcher and Hazzard, and for north coast Nationals Don Page and Thomas George.

First suggestion is to harmonise the term ‘pro-CSG Liberal/National politician’ to ‘arnold’ so as to properly describe our elected representatives’ utter betrayal of us (in tribute to Benedict Arnold).

Secondly, harmonise the terms ‘miner’, ‘CSG lobby group’, ‘CSG investor’, ‘managing director’, etc, to ‘genghis’ (after Genghis Khan) to fully describe the terrible destruction of our water, our land and our future that they will cause as they enrich themselves.

From the mouths of the arnolds and the genghises, ‘harmonisation’ means massive harm to our nation!

Bruce McQueen, Mt Burrell
