Skipper Dave Gilmore, starboard, brought his Gus Flat river boat up to the Tweed for this year’s Vintage Boat Regatta last Saturday, which saw around 40 wooden boats of varying ages and styles head upstream from Chinderah to Condong, with a stop at Tumbulgum for good measure.
The annual rite of passage took the crew about three hours to complete, arriving at Condong just in time for lunch.
Also on board were deckhands Josie and Cooper, supervising cast-off, behind chief engineer Mal Pendergast, and Dave and his wife Maggie brought pride and joy up from Mullum.
