A man has been arrested following a siege at a home in Coutts Crossing, near Grafton, overnight.

About 10pm (Monday), police attached to Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended a house on Kangaroo Creek Road after concerns were raised for a 26-year-old man.

After speaking with another man and woman at the home, police conducted patrols of the surrounding area.

While driving along Old Lilypool Road at South Grafton about 2am today (Tuesday), police noticed a green Ford Falcon sedan.

The male driver allegedly sped away from police and a brief pursuit was initiated.

During the pursuit, the 26-year-old male driver allegedly fired a shot at the police car on Armidale Road, though it did not make contact with the vehicle.

No-one was injured during the incident.

Officers continued to follow the vehicle, which stopped outside the Kangaroo Creek Road home.

Police established a perimeter at the residence and requested the assistance of police negotiators and other specialist officers attached to the Tactical Operations Unit.

A 65-year-old man and 61-year-old woman were also inside the residence during the incident.

About 6am, the younger man was arrested without incident and taken to Grafton Police Station, where he is currently assisting detectives with their inquiries.

A crime scene was established at the location and will be examined by specialist forensic officers and detectives.

Investigations into the matter are continuing.

Police are urging anyone with information about this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://www1.police.nsw.gov.au/.
