September 23:  Pottsville Gala Day,  President Catriona and members would like to thank all the wonderful bowlers from within the district and beyond who joined us on this special day.  The two greens the ladies occupied were filled with fun, laughter and even the odd bowl being rolled.  The huge run down raffle and lucky numbers were enjoyed by the many winners.  Overall winners on the day was a composite team made up of Marie Comerford, Doreen Buckley, Carol Smith and Lynn Ross. Runners-up were Cudgen’s Faye Turner, Joan Highfield, Daphne Edwards and Liz Fleming. First round winners (Cudgen again!) Trish McGee, Freda Hall, Clarice Blake and Maureen Alcorn. A special thank you to our sponsors – Melaleuca Memorial Gardens, Chinderah; TriCare Community Centre, Hastings Point and Atwood Marshall Lawyers of Coolangatta who assisted in making the day the success it was.

September 26:  Social Bowls – Strong swirling winds kept the ladies on their toes as they combatted the conditions and tried to bowl at the same time.  Still, all enjoyed the morning games.  Winners on the day (lwm) were Pat Bryant and George Moore.  Jean Crombie won 2nd prize in the raffle.  Still looking for the first prize winner!  Jan Appleton was the Lucky Numbers winner.  Congratulations everyone.  Really great to see our Pam Thorburn back on the greens having a roll up after being on the side lines for so long due to ill health.  Welcome back to “bowls land” Pam.

September 27:  Potty Pairs – (men, women, mixed).  Round one of this 10 week competition was a great afternoon.  Two greens were needed to accomodate the large contingent of bowlers – all of whom were chasing the big prize money.  Winners this week were Wayne Chisholm and Jerome Dobbyn (Condong) with Graham Crawley and Alan Meighan (Pottsville) the runners-up.  With a super Jackpot that any player can win on the final day of the comp, keep on coming if you want to win the mooley.  Round 2 will be Friday October 4th.  See you there.

SURFING

All Girls Surfriders

The All Girls Surfriders had a fantastic club round this month. The wind was kind and we managed to get most of our heats done early. This gave the girls a chance to really stretch out and show the judges some of the skills they have picked up through out the year. The finals were more challenging as the waves became elusive and the wind came up.

We have just 2 more club rounds till the end of the year! Felling the stoke @AllGirlsSurf!

September results are:

DIV1: 1. Roisin Carolan, 2. Vic Marano, 3. Ebony Santamaria, 4. Ange Spehr.

DIV2: 1. Mahlia Carr, 2. Mia Francis, 3. Melissa Wright, 4. Georgia Laddin.

DIV3: 1. Karina Hartley, 2. Nyxie Ryan, 3. Jess Mills, 4. Shaylla Young.
