The Lismore Memorial Baths will be closed today (Thursday) and tomorrow after sustaining damage in last night’s storm.

A Lismore City Council spokesperson said the heavy downpour caused a ceiling collapse and water inundation, which has resulted in damage to electrical wiring, pool pumps and light fittings as well as some stock loss from freezers. The council says it is unsure of the damage bill at this stage. An insurance assessor is inspecting the Baths today and arranging for repairs to be carried out. The Memorial Baths will reopen on Saturday in time for two major swimming carnivals over the weekend.
