Child abuse squad detectives have arrested and charged a man with the ongoing abuse and grooming of two children on the north coast.
Last week, detectives from the Ballina-based squad investigated the suspected abuse of two siblings, a boy and a girl aged under 14, by a family friend.
They allege the children had been indecently assaulted, sexually abused and groomed on numerous occasions between late 2012 and late 2013.
On Monday night (November 25), detectives arrested a 44-year-old man and seized a mobile phone they say contained images depicting child abuse.
The man was charged with indecently assaulting a person under 16; inciting a person under 16 year to commit an indecent act; grooming a child under 14 for sex; and using a child under 14 to make child abuse material.
The was refused bail and appeared at Tweed Heads Local Court yesterday.
