Archibald has knock-on effect in Murwillumbah

The Tweed Regional Gallery is hosting the Archibald Prize and local business people say the event is giving the town of Murwillumbah a significant economic boost.

Over ten years ago after much encouragement from his audiences, multi-award-winning singer Roo Mackerras created the Neily Diamond Show.

He already had a good reputation for his cover versions of the famous artists, but his fans let him know that they thought he really sounded like Mr Hot August Night.

And so began one of the best Neil Diamond tribute shows in the country, managing to hook Entertainer of the Year Awards for clubs in SE Queensland in the Tribute Show of the Year category.

Since the age of 10 when Roo’s big brother played Holly Holy and Song Sung Blue the young fella was hooked. In fact when he was older and found himself as a live concert he describes it as ‘a profound musical experience’.

He’s the only man I ever saw make my grandma cry. Not Roo… Neil!

So close your eyes and pretend you’ve got a date with Mr Diamond! At the Brunswick Bowlo on NEW YEARS EVE followed by the Angry Penguins.
