A man has been charged over a fatal stabbing in Port Macquarie on New Years Day.
About 6am on January 1, emergency services were called to Norfolk Avenue responding to reports of a stabbing.
Officers found 44-year-old Peter Martin with multiple stab wounds at the house.
NSW Ambulance paramedics attempted to resuscitate Mr Martin, but he died at the scene.
Mid North Coast Local Area Command detectives formed Strike Force Supel to investigate the killing and, as a result of investigations, police yesterday arrested a 33-year-old man at a house on Sawtell Road at Toormina.
He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station where he was charged with murder and received a warrant for revocation of parole.
The man was refused bail to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
