After playing solo on his travels through America, Canada and the UK, writing and recording demos of songs for a full band on a small Pro Tools setup, vocalist Ben Walsh, suggested to his friend Pat that they form a band, and Velshur was formed the next day in April 2013.
For a very busy first month, Velshur played local shows around Byron Bay and began work on some promotional material, eventually leading them to be offered residencies at The Bucket List in Bondi Beach every Thursday as well as for Oz Snow Adventures in Thredbo for the winter season.
After trying to juggle the two residencies 600kms away from each other, Velshur stuck with Thredbo, performing outside on The River Inn’s deck bar right on the ski slope 4-6 times a week during the four months of the winter season in 2013.
They managed to fit in time to tour the snowy mountains area while they were there too, ultimately performing 96 gigs in four months of the Australian snow season, as well as dotting between shows on the shores on world famous Bondi Beach to perform on as many weeks as they could fit in for The Bucket List’s Live at the Bucket series alongside artists like Marshall OKell, Kid Mac and The Leisure Bandits.
Velshur are putting the finishing touches on their much-anticipated first release due very soon.
You can see them at the Beach Hotel, Byron Bay Monday January 6.
