Mark Wilkinson 1(2)

Mark Wilkinson’s lyrical depth, gift for melody, and impassioned delivery are quickly establishing him as one of Australia’s most highly regarded singer/songwriters.

With the release of his sophomore album Let the River Run, Wilkinson sold out shows in the US, UK, New Zealand and right across Australia. He climbed to #1 on the iTunes Singer/Songwriter chart and spent over a month in the ARIA Australian Singles chart. Meanwhile Wilkinson has sold some 50,000 physical records to date, a remarkable feat for any unsigned artist. And while his career is quickly on the rise, he has barely yet scratched the surface.

Often drawing comparisons to Tracy Chapman and Ed Sheeran, his lyrical depth, gift for melody, and impassioned delivery are arresting on first listen and linger long after the final note.

With buzz around his live performances continuing to grow, Mark regularly sells out shows across Australia and in Europe – all without formal marketing or promotional support. A truly accomplished independent artist, Mark has gone on to sell some 40,000 records at live shows alone. In addition to his headline tours, Wilkinson has opened for legendary artists like Brian Wilson and Peter Frampton, among others, and performed for VIPs at Kings of Leon and Santana concerts.

Wilkinson is currently on tour across Australia and New Zealand. You can see him this Friday at the Currumbin SoundLounge. Doors open 7.30pm, show begins at 8.30pm.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
