Women

The Club Pairs championships at Cabarita Beach B.C. was a whizzer of a competition, particularly for Rhonda Gleeson (S) and Robyn Creedon. These ladies surprised themselves by winning their first round and then continued on to keep winning to reach the final of this  event – a bonus in itself.  They then had to face off against Joy Lake (S) and her trusty lead, Sue Goode – a mighty ask in anyone’s terms. However, not at all daunted, the girls set about their business; picking up 5 shorts in the first two ends, the girls kept their cool and lead all the way.  Even when team Lake collected 5 shots on the 13th end to put them back in the game, Rhonda and Robyn were not phased.  They, themselves, scored 6 shots on the 15th end, placing their position right back in the box seat in a game that ended on the 17th end.  Congratulations to the Cabba 2014 Pairs champions, Rhonda Gleeson (Skip) and Robyn Creedon on your great performance throughout the comp, together with the Runners-up Joy Lake (Skip) and Sue Goode.  Well done, everyone.

Cudgen Leagues W.B.C. has also completed their Club Pairs with a final that was a nail biter with the teams scoring neck and neck through to the 17th end.  The last end saw team May collecting 4 shots to take home the title.  Congratulations to President Judy Martin and Jan May (S), Cudgen Leagues B.C. 2014 Pairs Champions and the Runners up, Lorraine Sandall and June Wotherspoon (S) on a terrific game.

*** District Championship Open and Senior Fours are now under way.  Results will be forthcoming next week.  District Championship Triples are scheduled to commence May 12 with the first round to be conducted at Condong. Best  wishes for good bowling to all contestants.

Monday 19 May – If you are looking for a fun and relaxing day of bowls, how about popping down to Mullumbimby to enjoy their Gala Day.
