A 63-year-old man will face court later this month after he allegedly spray painted graffiti on a police station at Kingscliff.
Shortly after 2.20am yesterday (Wednesday), police said two officers walked out of the station on Marine Parade after hearing noises.
The two officers saw graffiti on the front and side of the police station.
Police said the officers noticed a man nearby who was wearing a balaclava and gloves.
According to police, the man attempted to escape on a toy scooter.
The 63-year-old man was arrested and, during a search graffiti spray cans were located in his backpack.
One officer suffered a shoulder injury during the arrest and is expected to be off work for a week.
The arrested man was taken to Tweed Heads Police Station, and charged with two counts of assault/resist police, malicious damage and possess house breaking implements.
The man was granted conditional bail, to appear at Tweed Heads Local Court on Monday 30 June.
