Dailan Pugh has correctly pointed out the use of bodgy figures to justify massive housing estates.
The same thing is going in in Sydney, with inflated growth figures being used to justify suburb-altering decisions. It’s ugly, it’s corrupt, it’s business as usual.
Then there’s the corrupt ‘get approval, then double the development’ trick. Just played at Barrangaroo, now on Parramatta Road. (see http://www.smh.com.au/nsw/parramatta-road-redevelopment-suddenly-doubled-20140804-zz0ka.html#ixzz39TuI8uiO)
Oh, but what’s this we hear? Illegal developer donations to Liberal and Labor MPs? Newcastle mayor handing over wads of cash? Obeid had network reaching into local councils?
Don’t imagine for a second there isn’t dirty money changing hands. March 2014 we get our chance to take out the trash.
If we don’t, we deserve all the crap we get.
