Marine Rescue Iluka Yamba yesterday evening had to rescue a commercial fishing boat from Wooli.
The boat, which had a disabled engine, was found adrift 15 nautical miles east of Sandon River, south of Yamba.
By the time it was spotted at 5:30pm the boat had drifted 3 nm from its original position.
Maine Rescue NSW Regional Controller Northern Rivers, Stephen Reading, said ‘There are two people on board the disabled vessel and both are OK.’
He added that although the disabled boat was from Wooli it was taken to Yamba owing to rough seas and a heavy tide.
A strong wind warning is forecast today on local coastal waters.
