Tweed Byron District Bowling Association

Men

The annual Schipp Shield and Cup Competition, this year conducted at South Lismore October 26,  had the Tweed Byron bowlers enjoy considerable success in the 3 games of 15 ends on the schedule.  In the Schipp Shield for Grade 3 and 4 players, the Tweed Byron lads put on a good show and came in 3rd Overall. Well done, fellas.  The Grade 5, 6 and 7 side contesting the Schipp Cup, defeated all before them in their 3 games to be overall winners of the coveted Cup.  Congrats, guys.

Congratulations go to all Tweed Byron contestants at this major event on your very credible performances.

Sick List:  Brunswick Heads’ member, David Croft, remains in hospital following a nasty fall several weeks ago. Best wishes for a full recovery in the near future David, from all district members.

District President Betty Croft’s husband, David, remains in hospital following a nasty fall several weeks ago and it now appears that some mending is taking place.  Members send their best wishes to Betty for David’s full recovery in the near future.

Monday 10 November is the date set down for the annual Tweed Byron District Shield to be contested by eight of our district clubs.

The venue this year for this prestigious event will be Condong Bowling Club.    Best wishes for good bowling to all contenders and may the best club win.

Teven Golf Club Men’s Division held a 9 holes Stableford competition on Saturday morning with a 6.30am shotgun start.  The results were:  Winner: Geoff Colnan (21).  Runner up: Greg Unwin (20).  Ball run down:  Rob Tillman (19), Bill Wayte (19), Steve Blackmore (19), Ian McDuff (19).  Nearest the Pins:  4th:  Ian Coochiroff;   8th:  Ian McDuff.  Putting:  Ian Coochiroff (11 putts).  Next comp: Sat 17 November – Chairman’s Day, 9 hole Mulligans with novelty events – 6.15am start for a 6.30am shotgun tee off.

The singles round-robin handicap competition was won by Max Schleuter with Chris Strybos second and on a count-back Mark Smith was third from Pele Safra (+2) fourth.  In the doubles competition final: Mark & Sunny came back from 1-2 games down to defeat Max & Victor 3-2.

October 30

The singles handicap competition was won by Fred Newman with second to fourth decided on a count-back: Peter McKenzie then Chris Strybos and then Matt Ostello (+2).  The doubles competition final was won by Mark Smith & Tim Robertson 3-2 from Peter McKenzie & Jason McCloy.
