A man has been arrested following a fatal assault at a home in the outer western Sydney suburb of  Pemulwuy last night.

About 11pm (Tuesday 23 December 2014) police and emergency services were called to a home on Driftway Drive following reports that a man had been assaulted.

Police found a 62-year-old man at the home suffering serious injuries.

He was treated at the scene by ambulance paramedics before being taken to Westmead Hospital, where he later died.

A 36-year-old man was arrested at the scene. He was taken to Merrylands Police Station where he is currently assisting police with inquiries.

Police have established a crime scene at the home and investigations into the incident are continuing.

A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
