‘I am all for CSG’ are the exact words spoken by the National’s Thomas George at meet the candidates night in Murwillumbah four years ago.
Few of us in the audience that night could have imagined the horrible disruption to our lives that those words would bring – since then we have had to put ourselves on the line in every conceivable, peaceful way we could to show Mr George, the other north coast/northern rivers Nationals and their Liberal Party bosses that we, the people, will keep this region free of gasfields.
But rather than obeying the will of 90 per cent of us, Mr George and his mates abandoned and betrayed us and used the NSW police against us.
We came within a hair’s breadth of having to face mounted police, the riot squad and hundreds more armed police as we tried to peacefully protect Bentley.
And all the while Mr George’s son was employed by the gas invaders, Metgasco!
If Mr George is re-elected on Saturday then the hard work, the bruises and arrests, the heartache and the financial cost we have borne will have been for nothing. Our beautiful and productive region will be destroyed by gasfields.
For certainty that our future Lismore MP will truly represent us, we need to vote 1 Adam Guise of the Greens.
We need Adam in the NSW parliament to stand with us and fight against CSG at the political level.
Adam and the Greens have shown by their actions over these past four years that they are on our side and we all know that actions speak louder than the National’s weasel words.
Declaration: I am not a member of any political party.
