Brisbane, AAP –Federal MP Clive Palmer has joked about taking crocodile off the menu after an elderly man was bitten at one of his golf courses.
Authorities are trying to capture the croc that attacked the man at the Palmer Sea Reef golf course at Port Douglas on Monday afternoon.
The golfer, aged in his mid-70s, suffered a wound to his lower leg and was taken to hospital in a stable condition.
Mr Palmer later turned to Twitter to wish the well-known local man a speedy recovery, and also joked: ‘Crocodile has been removed from all menus at Palmer properties following today’s incident with a member of our Port Douglas Golf Course.’
Once the croc is caught it will be relocated to a crocodile farm or a zoo.
Crocs are a common sight on the golf course, where signs warn players of the dangers.
