A two-vehicle accident closed off Shara Boulevard, one of main avenues into and out of Ocean Shores, on Thursday afternoon with the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter landing on the road.
Helicopter and NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene, together with other emergency services who had to cut one person from a car.
The accident involved a four-wheel drive vehicle and ‘a fairly hotted-up looking sedan’, according to Echo photographer Jeff Dawson, who was at the scene.
‘The sedan looked like it had been ripped in half,’ he added.
A spokesperson for the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter said that as a result of the two-motor-vehicle-accident a 29-year-old man was trapped in his car.
The man was freed by emergency services crews and flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital,’ he told Echonetdaily.
The 50-year-old driver of the other vehicle and his passenger were treated by paramedics and taken by road ambulance to The Tweed Hospital.
The road was closed for most of the afternoon.
