Duck Creek Mountain Bike Park reopens

Just off the road between Alstonville and Ballina, the spectacular Duck Creek Mountain Bike Park has re-opened, bigger and better, after an injection of funding and lots of hard work from dedicated volunteers.

Trove runs out of funding in June. How will the loss of the service affect Australian and Pacific research?

Most of Trove’s 22 million annual page visits come from members of the public: family historians, students, and general browsers interested in the six billion records it houses. But over the past 14 years, the archive has also become a crucial resource for academic work.

Vale Professor Will Steffen – leading climate scientist

Leading climate scientist Professor Will Steffen has died of pancreatic cancer in Canberra at 75.

Greg Lynn has listed the World Health Organisation, and a whole host of other organisations that have endorsed fluoride. That doesn’t make it okay or conclusive.

Considering the powers that be said DDT, asbestos, endosulfan, thalidomide, testing nuclear weapons in places where people lived, organochlorines, mercury in your mouth, fracking, the list goes on, yet all these practices have now been proven to be not such a good idea.

In some cases extremely harmful to your health. If you drink one glass of fluoridated water, it takes seconds for the bulk of it to be in your stomach. In his letter he does not address how it affects the rest of your body.

Fluoride is a toxic chemical. Scientists recently have expressed how important gut flora is to your health, and how important acidopholous and living cultures are to your general health.

If we introduce chemicals into that mix, we are killing off some of that flora. In processed food they put chemicals (numbers) to give those foods a long shelf life. To eat a lot of food with preservatives is not good for your health, and yet I note some health organisations think this is okay.

We can take our reading glasses to the supermarket and read the labels, that is the great choice we can all make.

Fresh foods without preservatives are living foods and I suggest that they are ‘alive’ foods, and that is what we should eat for good health.

He quotes Professor John Attia, professor of medicine and clinical epidemiology, University of Newcastle, who questions a peer reviewed paper.

Why hasn’t Professor Attia done a peer reviewed study on fluoride? Then Lynn’s letter goes on to say that Australias’ NHMRC continually assesses scientific evidence on water fluoridation.

Well if Greg Lynn and all the councillors who voted this in are so sure it is safe, why do they need to do more studies on whether it is safe? All that he says in his letter is inconclusive.

I note that on Dentitex toothpaste (which has fluoride in it) it says ‘Do not use this product on children 6 years of age or less’. And ‘Do Not Swallow’.

On another note, this is about community. Do you want to be a part of a truthful, solid, vibrant, inclusive community?

I heard a councillor raving on about what a fantastic community this is. If you never gave the community a choice regarding fluoride in our water, then that community is fractured.

Fluoride is not necessarily going to fix tooth decay. We need re-education about sugar in our diet (and drinking sugary drinks). This is a good place to start.

Hipocrates said ‘your medicines will be your food, and your food your medicine’. This is very wise. He didn’t mention toxic fluoride. Because it is diluted it is less toxic, but needless to say, it still has got some toxicity in it and this is what has been forced on the people of Lismore.

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

  1. I don’t care who endorses fluoride but adding it to the public water supply has denied me the right to refuse consuming it. It should be up to EVERY individual to choose what poisons they allow in their own bodies – I thought this was a part of our constitutional rights? By putting poisons in the public water supply DENIES EVERYBODY the right to choose. This is not democratic, no matter who says it is good for you, whether it is good for you or not is totally irrelevant as far as I’m concerned.
The solution is incredibly simple – remove it from the water and give us ALL a choice about it.

    • Lesley, do you seriously believe that because water flows from your faucette that you somehow have to drink it?? If you are that weak-willed then whatever problem you deem yourself to have with fluoridation is the least of your troubles.

      • Steve Slott, USA Dentist Troll, do you seriously believe that because words flow from your keyboard, that we somehow have to swallow your spin and lies??
If you are that dim-witted, then whatever problem, you deem yourself to have with forced fluoridation is the least of your troubles.

When fluoride flows from our tap it is used for cooking food and preparing beverages.
The same applies to food and beverages bought in supermarkets and bakeries, cafes and restaurants etc.

        Forced Fluoridationists are bullies.
All bullies are liars and cowards.

Fair freedom of choice of clean non-fluoridated water, is paying the same cheap price for tap water as the rest of the whole community.

If some people want to swallow any human treatment, those people can pay the extra for their daily dose of an accumulative toxin called silcofluoride.

Now see the slott, cherrypick and spin a reply. 🙂

  2. Not a single doctor or dentist would prescribe a medication to you without ever meeting you or knowing any specific details about you. This is unethical and illegal.

When did government bureaucrats become qualified to dispense medication (Fluoride) without a license? It is illegal for a doctor or a dentist to force anyone to take a drug. This should be illegal for the government as well.

Anyone desiring fluoride can add as much as they wish to their own glass of water, but it should not be added to drinking water, which forces everyone to consume it against their will. It affects the brain (lowered IQ), the bones (brittle bones, fractured hips & bone cancer), the thyroid gland, arthritis, etc. . It is linked with Alzheimer’s and Downs Syndrome. That is why 95% of the world population and 97% of Europe refuses to dump fluoride in drinking water.

To confirm that fluoride, hydrofluorosilicic acid, is dangerous, Google “Fluoride dangers” and read a few of the over 1,000,000 articles, many by M.D.’s, dentists and medical scientists.
