A 15-year-old boy camping at Tarloom, near Tabulum, has been choppered to Lismore Base Hospital after suffering burns from a fire he was attempting to light.

Around 6.40pm yesterday (Monday, November 9) the Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was called to the camp site, where the teenager was burnt while attempting to light the camp fire.

Paramedics who treated him at the scene said he was suffering from serious burns to his lower legs and hands.

The teenager was stabilised at the scene and flown to Lismore Base Hospital in a stable condition.
