Two hospitalised after Alstonville head-on smash

A female driver had to be cut from her vehicle and two children were taken to Lismore Base Hospital following a head-on collision on the Bruxner Highway at Alstonville yesterday afternoon.

Emergency services took nearly an hour to cut the woman from the car at around 5pm.

A NSW Ambulance spokesperson said the two children suffered head and back injuries respectively, and were taken to Lismore Base Hospital by road ambulance.

Two other children caught in the smash were treated for minor ailments at the scene.

Both lanes of the Bruxner Hwy at Alstonville were closed for some time as a result of the smash and subsequent salvage operation.
