A man has been charged after allegedly sexually assaulting a woman on a Ballina beach yesterday.
Police say that around 10.30am on Sunday, a 29-year-old woman was at a beach in East Ballina when a 33-year-old man allegedly sexually assaulted her.
The man was chased and detained by witnesses before being arrested by police from Richmond Local Area Command.
The man was taken to Ballina Police Station and charged with sexual intercourse without consent.
He was refused bail and will appear before Lismore Local Court today (Monday).
