A man believed to be aged in his 20s died after he was hit by a car as he walked along the Pacific Highway at Tintenbar west of Ballina on Saturday night.
Police say the accident happened around 7.50pm. Ambulance paramedics attended and helped the man but could not revive him.
The male driver of the vehicle was uninjured and taken to hospital for mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
Richmond Local Area Command officers are investigating and a report will be prepared for the Coroner.
