The Byron Sirens roller derby team will be shaking off the winter blues when they take on North Brisbane Rollers at home this Friday night.

After touring the country and playing teams from Adelaide, Newcastle and Brisbane, the Sirens are back on home turf and can’t wait to skate in front of a home crowd, BB Sting, Bay Rollers captain said.

‘We’ve played far and wide this year and we’re pumped to be back home playing North Brisbane.

‘They’re a strong team and we know that they’ll want to settle the score as we beat them last September.

‘Derby is such an awesome spectator sport; we’d love to see lots of locals come and watch!’ BB Sting said.

After watching the game this weekend, men and women interested in playing roller derby are invited to a sign-on on Friday September 16. ‘No experience is necessary, only a willingness to learn, have fun and get fit,’ she said.

Friday nights will also be open to anyone who just wants to have a social skate.

‘Rollerskating is an excellent way to get fit and it does wonders for thighs and bums. We have skates and pads available for hire but you can always bring your own!’
