It’s MardiGrass!

This year is Nimbins 32nd annual MardiGrass and you’d reckon by now ‘weed’ be left alone. The same helicopter raids, the disgusting, and completely unfair, saliva testing of drivers, and we’re still not allowed to grow our own plants. We can all access legal buds via a doctor, most of it imported from Canada, but we can’t grow our own. There’s something very wrong there.

Police say that around 8.45pm last Saturday, emergency services were called to a restaurant on Lawson Street, Byron Bay, following reports of an assault.

Police were told an unknown male assaulted the 55-year-old man at the premises.

The victim was treated for injuries by NSW Ambulance paramedics and taken to Byron Bay hospital. He has since been released.

A crime scene was established and initial investigations suggest the man was hit in the head with a glass.

As part of the investigation, officers from Tweed/Byron Local Area Command seized CCTV.

The man sought is described as Caucasian in appearance, about 30-years-old with a solid build and dark hair. He was last seen wearing a long-sleeved green shirt.

Police are urging anyone who has seen this man, or knows his whereabouts to contact Bangalow police station on 02 6687 1404 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.

    • Do you expect the police to catch every miscreant immediately after every wrongdoing? That is plainly unreasonable. And what do you mean by “revenue raising”. The police should not prosecute people for offences that carry a fine? You would be happy for some hoon to tear down Johnson Street at 80 kph and kill someone? Or do yo pick and choose according to your values which offences they should be pursuing? Can I suggest you give the police any help and support you can it doing their job, and get of their backs if they cannot catch one person on one occasion.
