Iconic Murwillumbah brewery Stone & Wood has been declared regional business of the year at the 2016 Northern Rivers Business Awards.

The Byron-identified brand has also been named as employer of choice and took out the excellence in sustainability award at the event, held on Saturday (September 24) at the Lismore Workers Club.

It’s been a season of awards for the company, which won champion large Australian brewer at the Australian International Beer Awards in May

Alcohol must have been in the blood at the awards as Tweed-based distillery received the award for excellence in innovation.

All the 2016 regional winners will proceed as finalists representing the Northern Rivers region at the NSW Business Chamber State Business Awards to be held in Sydney on Friday, November 25.
