A fundraiser will be held at the Nimbin Bush Theatre this Saturday to raise money for the native Americans and environmentalists protesting the Dakota Access Pipeline.
The proposed pipeline would run from the Bakken oil fields in western North Dakota to southern Illinois, crossing beneath the Missouri and Mississippi rivers, as well as part of Lake Oahu near the Standing Rock Indian Reservation.
Thousands of protesters have converged at Standing Rock to protest the pipeline, and have been met with police willing to use pepper spray and attack dogs.
The Nimbin event aims to show solidarity with the protesters, and will feature musicians, dancers and activists who are donating their time ‘to support this tragic attack on the environment and the native American people’.
The event will run from 10am until 7pm, and will feature music by Blakboi, The Pagen Love Cult, and Davey Bob Ramsey, and others, along with raffles, auctions and a slide show.
All donations will go to help fund the camp and resistance through the upcoming winter in North America.
