Suffolk Park’s Matthew Slee drew on his European racing experience and his time-trial skills to split the A grade field in half at last Sunday’s Criterium race in Byron’s Industrial Estate.
Matthew eventually soloed away from the determined Andrew Crawley to a decisive victory.
Nick Ruane said that he was pleased to see his preseason training regime rewarded by a successful move into B grade racing.
Nick put in a withering attack in the final lap to lead out his team mate and birthday boy Nick Smith for the sprint victory. Finishing very closely behind was Ballina’s Damian Chapelle and late entrant Myocum’s Alan Hainsworth.
Dazzling Daz Jarvis from Nashua was too quick in the final straight and took the C grade sprint in emphatic fashion. Darren was seen conferring with quick Nick about a transfer to B grade.
Andrew ‘they make ’em tough in Federal’ Hoskins finished third despite crashing mid-race and hurting his shoulder.
D Grade saw David Scully cross the line ahead of his nemesis, the Club’s ride captain, John Langler.
Thanks to Industrial Estate residents for their support.
