Gary Gordon and Monique Smith were among the prize winners after more than 20 members of the Tweed Valley Sailing club travelled to Harwood on the Clarence River last weekend to compete in the Big River Sailing Club’s annual regatta.

Strong winds on Saturday made the marathon race to Iluka and back an exciting run.

Mark Reynolds, Kim Stephan and Steve Walgers on Corsair Keenas got the loudest cheer for persevering to the finish line a little while after everyone else, despite capsizing twice and having a novice crew.

Glenn Slight took first in the marathon race on Saturday and in the final presentation on Sunday TVSC’s Gary McCrohon (Laser) and Monique Smith (Corsair) again walked away with prizes for second and third places respectively in their monohulls.

What really counts is that everyone got to enjoy a weekend away together – the social side of sailing is a big part of being a TVSC member.

Adult courses are planned sometime between April and June. Contact Dave Chester:  [email protected].

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
