Guy Kachel had an idyllic entry to the world of music. Born in Tamworth, he was raised on the banks of the Peel River. The landscape was a fertile ground for his imagination. The inaugural Byron Bay Fine Food & Beverage Festival has announced Neil Perry AM as guest chef at the festival’s highly anticipated opening night Mixed Dozen Gala Dinner on Friday 2 June.

Neil Perry is one of Australia’s most influential and recognised chefs. Under his leadership, the Rockpool Group became Australia’s most-awarded restaurant group, earning 15 Good Food Guide chefs hats across seven different dining experiences. Neil heads up Rockpool Consulting, which oversees menus for Qantas International First and Business travellers. He is the author or nine cookbooks and has featured as a television presenter for The Lifestyle Channel.

But Neil is just one part of a stellar lineup of one dozen acclaimed chefs set to take over the Elements of Byron Resort kitchen for one night only for the Mixed Dozen Gala Dinner.

The other 11 acclaimed chefs in the kitchen are local favourites Ben Devlin – Paper Daisy, Steven Snow – Fins, Darren Robertson and Mark Labrooy – Three Blue Ducks, Sarah Swan – 100 MileTable, Simon Jones – Elements Of Byron, Sean Connelly – The Balcony Bar and Oyster Co, Katrina and Karl Kanetani – TOWN Restaurant and Café, Bret Cameron – Harvest, Gavin Hughes – Byron at Byron Resort and Spa, Carlo Magnabosco – Beach Byron Bay, and Monique Guterres – Seaweed Cuisine.
