Perfect conditions accompanied the small schools cross- country run last Friday at Durrumbul public school in Main Arm.
Hundreds of students from Coorabell, Goonengerry, Main Arm Upper, Newrybar, The Pocket and Wilsons Creek public schools got together to see who would make it through to the district competition.
‘Students aged 5–13 were challenged by a course that ran through the picturesque rural setting of Durrumbul that includes open spaces and flowing creeks,’ said Brev Belleville, principal of Durrumbul school.
With some small schools numbering as few as 40 students, events such as swimming carnivals, sports days and cross-country runs provide a great opportunity for the children, as well as families and staff, to get together in a positive and friendly atmosphere.
