Police arrested and charged a man with drug supply offences at Ballina-Byron Airport on Friday afternoon (June 16).

About 3.30pm, officers from the Tweed/Byron Target Action Group stopped and searched a 41-year-old man in the airport car park.

Officers seized 110g of methylamphetamine and a small amount of ketamine, arresting the man and taking him to Ballina Police Station.

A search warrant was conducted at the man’s home in Byron Bay, where a number of items were seized for further examination.

The man has now been charged with supplying prohibited drug (greater than indictable quantity) and two counts of possessing a prohibited drug.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Ballina Local Court on Thursday July 13.

Investigations are continuing.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
