Mandy x 3 Daves

3daves

It doesn’t happen much, but this July’s Big Gig at the Ballina RSL features Mandy Nolan and not one, not two, but three comedians called Dave!

He’s a dancer, he’s a Ninja, he’s a comedian. Dave Callan brings the Single Ladies magic to the Big Gig this Thursday.

Easily the hairiest comedian in Australia, Dave Callan is a versatile and highly entertaining comedian, writer and performer. Dave has been on just about every Australian TV show that features standup comedians. His looks have seen him mistaken for Chewbacca, Jesus and The Wild Man from Borneo in that order.

The Irish-born star of Triple J radio and original Rove cast member. He is also recognisable from his appearances on Spicks and Specks, The Comedy Festival Gala and The Adventures of the Good News Week. He is currently a regular on Good Game on ABC 2. He has performed at the Edinburgh Festival and toured Britain, South East Asia, the US and Hobart.

Recently Dave has embraced his roots by lending his voice to animated series Mollusks as Feargal the Irish Sea Cucumber and played the Electric Picnic, a three-day music festival in Ireland. Dave is currently performing The Psychology of Laughter, a brand-new live show about a 100-year-old book of the same name he found in Edinburgh. He has sweet guns.

Dave Callan is joined by David McNevin as support with a special guest appearance by Dave Batten, a local upcoming comedian who tells it how it is! MC is Mandy Nolan. This Thursday at the Ballina RSL at 8pm. Free.

Country Club Comedy

Lindsay-Webb

Well, Ocean Shores, you can stop complaining that nothing much happens in Ocean Shores. The good people at Ocean Shores Country Club have teamed up with Mandy Nolan to create a brand-new comedy initiative: Country Club Comedy.

This free comedy room will be offering the best of the international and national comedy circuit on the first Tuesday of the month, FREE!

Come along this month and check it out when the master of crowd improvisation, Lindsay Webb, headlines. Webb is a comedy machine, and the go-to act for crowd warm-ups for big TV series such as Gruen Nation, Q&A and Save Your Life Tonight. He has also toured extensively through the US and Europe.

He is joined by Anne Howe, the Brisbane-based beautician who hasn’t lost her cockney charm for telling it how it is whether you bloody like it or not! Mandy Nolan is the MC, the show kicks off at 7pm, and make sure if you don’t want to drive you ring the club to book the courtesy bus! Call 6680 1008 to arrange a pickup from Ocean Shores, Billinudgel, Brunswick Heads and South Golden Beach.

Support The Echo

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.

Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
