A 28-year-old Whian Whian man will appear in the Lismore Local Court today after police found cannabis, a crossbow and fireworks during a search yesterday.

During the search of the Whian Whian address police allegedly located ten 30 gram bags of cannabis and a set of scales.

Police from the Richmond Target Action Group then found a hydroponic cannabis grow room and a locked and secret part of the house.

A crossbow and six bolts were also located.

In a downstairs area police found more cannabis growing, a bucket full of cannabis and fireworks, and another ten cannabis plants growing outside.

Police said they seized 67 cannabis plants and 3.5 kilos of cannabis.

The man was taken to the Lismore Police Station where he was refused bail after being charged with enhanced indoor cultivation of cannabis for commercial purposes, cultivating a prohibited plant, supply, possession and two counts of possessing a prohibited weapon.

If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.
