About 2.15pm on Friday (October 27), an ambulance was travelling north on the Gold Coast Highway, Tweed Heads, when it was involved in a collision with a vehicle towing a boat at the intersection with the M1 off ramp .
The ambulance flipped and rolled a number of times.
Fortunately, the heart attack patient who was being carried in the ambulance at the time was able to be extricated and taken to John Flynn Hospital, Gold Coast, for treatment.
But onne paramedic had to be be airlifted to Gold Coast Hospital with abdominal injuries.
The occupants of the vehicle towing the boat are not believed to have been injured.
Police from Tweed Heads Local Area Command are investigating the crash.
