Police are appealing for public assistance to help find a man who went missing from a hotel in Byron Bay on Saturday (March 31).

Mark Goyen, aged 61, was last seen leaving his hotel on Childe Street about 1.30pm to go for a walk.

His wife reported his disappearance to local police when he failed to return to the hotel and a search has commenced.

There are concerns for his welfare as he suffers from a medical condition and requires medication.

Mark was last seen wearing a t-shirt, khaki shorts, white joggers, and a black backpack.

Anyone with information on his whereabouts, or anyone who sees him is urged to contact police via Crime Stoppers.

Police are urging anyone with information in relation to this incident to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or use the Crime Stoppers online reporting page: https://nsw.crimestoppers.com.au/
