Celebrating kids who are ‘a little but different’ children’s author Oliver Phommavanh will be talking to local kids on Wednesday August 1 at the Brunswick Heads Scouts Hall from 5.30pm to 7pm.
‘Oliver is a huge name in Australian Children’s books. He writes funny, accessible books that kids really love, being awarded Children’s Choice awards all over Australia and internationally,’ said Byron Shire GP Dr Zewlan Moor who has organised the event.
‘If your child loved Anh Do’s Weirdo series but is ready to move on, they’ll love Thai-riffic!, about a boy who is dying for some cheese pizza after growing up in his family’s Thai restaurant, and Super Con-nerd, about facing the pressures of moving from primary to high school.’
Free for everyone
The event is being hosted by Brunswick Heads Girl Guides and Byron Bibliotherapy and is free for all kids and their families who are interested in coming along. Dr Zewlan Moor founded Byron Bibliotherapy after feedback from patients who found it helpful when she recommended fiction works to them.
‘We’re looking forward to hearing about his new book, Natural Born Loser,’ said Dr Moor.
‘The Girl Guides and Scouts celebrate developing kids’ talents and confidence in all sorts of pursuits, whether sporty, arty, outdoorsy or nerdy. We’re sure Oliver will fit right in!’
Oliver Phommavanh will also be at this years Byron Writers Festival.
