Cudgen Lifesaver among King’s Birthday honourees

Far North Coast Director of Lifesaving, David Rope, was awarded an Emergency Services Medal as part of the King's Birthday honourees this week – acknowledging his significant and sustained service to the movement.

Emergency services were called to the scene of a fatal workplace accident near Casino after reports a man was unconscious in a water tank.

About 1.10pm Tuesday (August 21), emergency services were called to a property on Sextonville Road, Dyraaba, where the 58-year-old man had been pumping water from a tank with a petrol pump when he was overcome by fumes.

The man died at the scene.

Officers from Richmond Police District attended and have notified SafeWork NSW.

A report will be prepared for the Coroner.
