David Hancock, Byron Bay
I refer to the current debate about nude bathing on Tyagarah Beach. It’s a very long beach. Is it possible for Byron Shire Council to gazette a ‘Masturbators Only’ zone?
Problem solved!

Keeping the community together and the community voice loud and clear is what The Echo is about. More than ever we need your help to keep this voice alive and thriving in the community.
Like all businesses we are struggling to keep food on the table of all our local and hard working journalists, artists, sales, delivery and drudges who keep the news coming out to you both in the newspaper and online. If you can spare a few dollars a week – or maybe more – we would appreciate all the support you are able to give to keep the voice of independent, local journalism alive.

David Hancock your request is nothing but ridiculous and illegal.
Ask police if they’d allow sexual activity on the beach gazetted or otherwise.
It has been proven before magistrates recently that ‘Being Nude does not constitute offensive behaviour’.
What your referring to in having a masturbators zone gazetted is obscene and lewd and constitutes Sexual Assault and Offensive Behaviour.
If you can’t keep your hand off it in public, maybe Psychiatric help is needed.
I think David was simply asking a question about Council’s powers under the LGA to gazette an area for a specific purpose. I believer the Act gives Council some power to can designate places for specific activities and purposes.
However, It was possibly somewhat excessive in your closing remark, Debbie, to imply that David has a problem that might require psychiatric help.
