The Northern NSW Local Health District says there was one new case of COVID-19 was reported for NNSWLHD to 8pm, November 25. This case is located in the Byron Local Government Area, a traveller from outside the region and e is not associated with the Aquarius Backpackers.

The Northern NSW Local Health District is urging residents in the Tweed Shire, particularly in the Banora Point and Kingscliff areas to be alert for COVID-19 symptoms following the detection of fragments of the virus in sewage samples.

Young environmental activist Holley Somerville Knott says she is taking part in the School Strike 4 Climate event, where students from all over the world will walk out from class to demand more action from governments on climate change.

She told The Echo, ‘My high school and the other schools from the Byron Shire are walking out of school at 10am on November 30 in the name of climate change.

‘There is going to be bands, speakers, signs and protestors marching from Railway Park in Byron to Main Beach to raise awareness. Speak up and take action!’

‘Everyone there will be forming a giant human sign!’
