John Scrivener, Main Arm
The humanitarian crisis in Palestine is such that imminent death due to starvation and disease currently threatens thousands of helpless civilians, half of them children, victims of Israeli actions and policies.
Israel doesn’t care about the Palestinians, it wants to normalise and legitimise its illegal settlements and its military occupation of the West Bank and its siege of Gaza. It ignores UN Security Council resolutions and violates international law with impunity.
This crisis is allowed to degenerate endlessly and without interest from corporate media or western polities which have their own history of slaughter and ethnic cleansing akin to what’s been ongoing in Palestine now for more than seventy years.
These days you don’t have to go beyond the website of Israel’s daily, haaretz.com, to find facts, analysis and opinions which are not permitted elsewhere in the western press, and to listen to the likes of Amira Hass or Miko Peled for insight into the nature of the slow motion genocide of Palestinians.
Israel is not a victim and its supporters do untold harm by seeking to silence critics and in trying to justify Israel’s denial of the right of Palestinians to a state of their own or equal rights within a one-state solution.
Israeli-Arabs live better than Arabs anywhere in the world.
Arabs living under Hamas/Fatah/PLO rule are victims of their own dictatorial, terroristic, jihadist governments.
Israel is the solution, not the problem.
One state with equal rights for all.
One State of Israel.
For John Scrivenor it’s a matter of trying to score points with lies and propaganda expressing simplistic notions like ‘Israel doesn’t care about the Palestinians’.
Referencing a couple of self-hating Jews like Amira Haas and Miko Peled who find favour in an Israeli newspaper that is generally depised and ignored by most Israelis gains no credibility for Scrivenor’s tropes.
No solution is possible with a disunited, motley group of ‘Palestinians’ who invented their national identity 50 years ago to use as a weapon to demonise and delegitimise Israel.
The Arabs in the region have never been willing to tolerate a Jewish sovereign presence in their midst and there is no reason to believe they are suddenly going to change their ways.
While you are at it Jack Morris why don’t you extend the list of “self-hating”Jews and include all those brave and principled souls in B’Tselem (the Israeli human rights group), IDF veterans who confess their crimes in Breaking the Silence, the young conscientious protesters in Shministim who get jailed repeatedly for refusing to take up weapons against Palestinians and academic luminaries like Ilan Pappé and Norman Finkelstein? No doubt you would also label Jewish Voice for Peace in the US as comprising “self hating Jews”. Do you also label those in the US, France, Britain or Australia who criticise their governments as self hating Americans, French, British and Australians? What a lot of nonsense you spout!
Despite all of the usual propaganda about Arabs living better in Israel than in any part of the world ( the destruction of Iraq, Libya etc by US/NATO friends of Israel did not help Arab living standards) I prefer the words of Nelson Mandela and Desmond Tutu who describe Israel as an Apartheid State.
The Basic Law now adopted by the Israeli State states clearly that Jews have more rights than Palestinians.
There are three groups of Palestinians, West Bank Gaza and Palestinians with Israeli citizenship, together
they constitute the majority in Israel but with less rights than a Jew living anywhere in the world.
The 4 Corners program “Stone Cold Justice” showing soldiers bursting into Palestinian homes at the dead of
night dragging young children out of bed for interrogation, and shows the oppression of the of the people of the West Bank under an almost 60 year military occupation.
The shootings at the Gaza fence of unarmed civilians (3 more dead Saturday 30th March) which has been going on for 12 months is an outrage against international law and constitutes a war crime
