Finally, a local candidate with the gumption to actually go the extra mile and negotiate directly with the government to get better outcomes for regional communities.
When Ben Franklin promises to do something, you know he’s going to deliver. He nearly doubled The Nationals’ $250,000 promise for Waterlily Park through the Stronger Country Communities Grant.
Ben secured our old Byron Hospital site for $1 and refurbishment money for Mullumbimby’s Drill Hall. He secured funding for the Booyung Bridge replacement ensuring safe water transportation to rural properties benefiting Booyong processing plant and the macadamia, beef and dairy industries.
That $5.17m of funding will also replace Parkers, James, O’Meara’s and Scarrabelotti’s bridges in Bangalow.
Ben Franklin is a big supporter of youth in the Ballina electorate improving surf safety with drone surveillance, and providing a multi-faceted first offenders program in schools.
It’s refreshing to have a common sense candidate who’s on the right track to look after constituents in the Byron Shire for a change.
